Throughout the last couple years you may have been able to create music that’s a bit more edgy and experimental, pushing the boundaries of what’s known as pop or rock. Concepts of website design are shifting as well, and we took that change into account when designing our latest website template: Receiver.
This new theme was inspired by the concept of brutalism - a trend in website design that goes against the grain. It’s characterized by a more raw, experimental appearance, with the use of primary colors, gradients, and shadows.
While the nature of your completed website will depend on the content you add and the colors you choose, the Receiver template will give your design a modern look. Let’s see how you can transform it to your liking:
Created a fixed header
The header area of this music website template includes the navigation and the site-wide music player, should you choose to add one. Whether you’ve made a one-page website, or a full website with many pages, you can fix the header to the top of your template.
So when your visitors scroll down the page to see your content, the navigation menu and music player stay present at the top.
With the preset palette options, we’ve created default templates that are monochromatic to start. But you can give the header its own background color, and adjust the opacity for a more separated look.
Band name front and center
With the Receiver template there is a good opportunity to set up your branding right off the bat. For musicians, record labels, beat producers, or studios - set your name to center and adjust the font to get one that shows your vibe.
Just keep in mind that you can choose a background color or a background image - so make sure your name is using a font that’s simple and clear so it’s easy to read once you create the background.

Full background image option
To create an image-heavy look, simply upload an image to the background of this website template. Your header will sit at the top of your website, with your content floating quickly over your image and name. The full background image remaining set in place gives this template a modern look.
The background image has opacity options available so you can make it blend into the page background color - which you can also edit. When you scroll, the background image's opacity is reduced and your image fades into the background - to make sure that your text, music, and photos are still easy to see.
Customizable content area
With the Receiver template, the concept calls for simple fonts that are clear and easy to read. Keeping this in mind, you can adjust your content area to focus on your next release, latest news items, or merch for sale. The content area can be to the left, center, or right side of the page. It can also be set to full-width making the content nearly touch the sides of your visitor’s screen.
With a left-set background image, and right-set text, you could create a unique look for your website with just a few clicks. This website template is responsive and the background image will adapt according to any mobile device.
Styled sections in color
With a brutalist style template you are free to keep it simple, focusing on bright colors and simple fonts. WIth a full-featured website, or with a lot of content on your band website Homepage, you can choose to set up section colors.
Try adding a background image and sections with semi-transparent color - this will create a layered look as your content scrolls.
Variations on the theme
With the Receiver template we have created four default design options to try out. Depending on your style of music, one of these may suit you right out of the box. You can also change things up quickly by adding your own images, and adjusting the colors.
Playful variation
The Playful variation of this website template combines a trendsetting pink with simple black and white abstract art. The band name jumps off the page in a standout white font, which fades neatly as content scrolls up to the top. This template would work well for a folk musician, or pop artist.
Sombre variation
Leading the way with a full red background, your band name will stay in place by default in the Sombre version. So we’ve paired the menu and content plus titles with black and white fonts to be sure they’re always legible. The high contrast of this palette makes it ideal for a beats producer, EDM musician, or DJ.
Neutral variation
Shades of gray lead the way with the Neutral version. Your name or image will fade into gray, creating a serene yet modern look. This version would be perfect for an alternative band or jazz musician. It would also play nicely with black sections and white text, to break up a website with more content.
Elegant variation
The elegant version of this website template pairs delicate springtime hues with a white font, then surprises you when it scrolls into black text. This design can really be tailored for any solo musician, but would also create a nice music composer website.
The Receiver template is characterized by bold colors, choice typography, and a scrolling effect that will provoke the interest of your website visitors. You can change your website template at any time, and all of your music, text, and photos will remain in place.
If you’re looking to give your music website a fresh new look that pushes the typical web design boundaries, the Receiver template may be the perfect place to start.
