Musicians have been using our ‘Calendar’ feature for years to sell tickets to their gigs commission-free through their Bandzoogle websites. Pro members now have the ability to offer free tickets as well.
Whether you want to distribute a set amount of tickets for a free event through your site, or offer free access to a paid event exclusively to your fans, you’re now able to use our ‘Calendar’ feature to offer free tickets.
With this update, you can also set tickets to ‘pay-what-you-want’ pricing. This option allows fans to choose how much to pay for a ticket; and you can set a minimum price or not.
How to add a free ticket
When creating a new event using the ‘Calendar’ feature, select the ‘Sell tickets though my website’ option under the ‘Sell tickets’ header. In the ‘Purchase type’ drop-down menu, you’ll see the pricing options available. Select ‘Free’ to let your fans add the ticket to their cart and checkout without being charged.
They’ll add the ticket to their cart just like they would a regular ticket, then proceed to checkout. All they’ll need to enter is their name and an email address so we’ll know where to send the ticket, and they’ll automatically be added to the guest list. No credit card information will be required here.
Once they complete their checkout, they’ll be emailed their ticket, which they can print out or display on their phone at the venue entrance.
Use a landing page to promote the event
Landing pages are a great way to focus your fans’ attention to a single call-to-action. In this case, that action could be adding the ticket to their cart and checking out. The ‘Featured Event’ landing page template has a set layout with a ‘Calendar’ feature and an ‘Image’ feature ready to go. So you can easily offer your free tickets side-by-side with a concert poster or a photo of your live performance. Using a ‘Featured Event’ landing page will help maximize signups and better track the traffic and conversions on the page.
A perk for your subscribers
Building your fan subscriber list takes some creativity, but we’re always working to provide more features that make the job easier for you. Offering free tickets to events as a perk for your subscribers is a great way to make your subscribers feel like the valued superfans they are.
Offering free tickets to your shows can allow you to connect with fans, grow your mailing list, and keep your paying subscribers happy. It also provides you a guestlist of everyone attending, and you can cap your attendance if need be by using the ‘Inventory’ option. This new event option is a great fan engagement tool that any musician can and should make use of on their website!
