Add paragraphs or snippets of text to make sure your website visitors know who you are, and what your music is all about.

There are several ways to incorporate text into your website. This help article is specific to the ‘Text’ and ‘Site-Wide text’ features. To add an image along with your text, check out the ‘Image and Text’ feature help article.

This help article includes the following:

  • How to add the ‘Text’ feature to your website
  • How to add the ‘Site-Wide Text’ feature to your website
  • Text feature options
  • How to reuse the ‘Site-Wide Text’ feature
  • Creating style and layout options for your text feature

Note: Pasting text from another source, like another web page or text editor, may carry over formatting that will conflict with your theme settings. To avoid this, type directly into the text fields or paste reformatted, plain text. You can also use the formatting options and paste the text directly into the ‘Source’ option to remove formatting.

How to reuse the ‘Site-Wide Text’ feature

One reason to use the Site-Wide Text feature is to reuse the text in more than one place across your website. When you update a text feature, the text will be updated on any other pages that use the same text feature.

To reuse a text feature:

  • From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click ‘Pages’ and open the page on which you’ll be working
  • Click ‘Add feature’
  • Select the ‘Site-Wide Text’ feature
  • Use the placement arrows on that page to set the feature’s location
  • Click ‘Use this text’ to the right of a previously created text feature

Creating the style and layout for your text feature

Once it’s been added to the page, the site-wide text feature can take on the style of any section it is placed into. You can adjust the columns of the current section, and this will affect only the text feature on that page.

To update the style:

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, move your cursor over the section containing the text feature you’d like to edit
  2. Click the blue ‘Edit section’ button
  3. To dictate which colors your text feature will have, choose an option from the ‘Section colors’ drop down menu
  4. These colors can be styled in the Edit Theme tab.

For more details on creating styled sections for your website, please see: Styled Website Sections.

To create a layout for your text feature:

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click ‘Pages’ and open the page on which you’ll be working
  2. Hover your cursor over the section containing your text feature
  3. Click the blue ‘Edit Columns’ button
  4. Choose the layout from one of the options to create two or three columns, or a sidebar.
