Before uploading tracks to any of the Bandzoogle music features, you’ll need to make sure they are in MP3, WAV, or FLAC format. Track files stored on your computer may be in a different format. There are several ways to convert your tracks. Here are just a few options:

  • Google search
  • Windows Media Player
  • iTunes

How to convert audio tracks online:

  1. From google.com, search for ‘convert audio tracks free’
  2. Choose one of the many free programs from the Google search results
  3. Generally, with those online tools, you will upload your track, choose the format you’d like to convert to, then click convert
  4. Download the converted track to your computer

How to convert audio tracks using iTunes:

To convert songs that are already in your iTunes library:

  1. Open iTunes
  2. Mac: From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose ‘iTunes’ > ‘Preferences’ Windows: From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, choose ‘Edit’ > ‘Preferences’
  3. Click the ‘General’ tab, then click ‘Import Settings’ in the lower section of the window
  4. Click the menu next to ‘Import Using’, then choose the encoding format you’d like to use for file conversion
  5. Click ‘OK’ to save the settings
  6. From your library, select one or more songs that you want to convert
  7. Choose ‘File’ > ‘Convert’, then ‘Create [format] Version’. The format shown is the one assigned in step 4. For example, if you chose MP3, select ‘Create MP3 Version’.

New song files will appear in your library next to the original files.

Convert songs from files in a folder or on a disk

You can import songs into iTunes and convert them at the same time. This creates a converted copy of the file in your iTunes Library, based on your iTunes preferences.

To convert all of the songs in a folder or on a disk:

  1. Open iTunes
  2. Mac: From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose ‘iTunes’ > ‘Preferences’ Windows: From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, choose ‘Edit’ > ‘Preferences’
  3. Click the ‘General’ tab, then click ‘Import Settings’ in the lower section of the window.
  4. Click the menu next to ‘Import Using’, then choose the encoding format you’d like to use for file conversion
  5. Click ‘OK’ to save the settings
  6. While holding down the ‘Option’ key (Mac) or ‘Shift’ key (Windows) on your keyboard, choose ‘File’ > ‘Convert’ > ‘Convert to’ [import preference]. The format shown is the one assigned in step 4. For example, if you chose MP3, select ‘Create MP3 Version’.
  7. Select the folder or disk that contains songs you’d like to import and convert. iTunes converts all of the songs in the specified folder or on the specified disk.

The songs in their original format and the converted songs will appear in your iTunes library.

How to convert audio tracks using Windows Media Player:

  1. Insert an audio CD into your computer’s CD drive
  2. Click the ‘Rip’ tab
  3. Click the arrow under the ‘Rip’ tab, and click the ‘Format’ menu
  4. Select MP3 or WAV

Ripped tracks will appear in your computer’s library.
