In a world where streaming is on the rise, our goal here at Bandzoogle is to encourage and empower artists to take charge of their direct to fan sales.
Since we started compiling sales data in 2010, our customers have earned over $67.3 million in commission-free sales, with nearly half of that coming in the last 2 years alone.
And since the pandemic hit, that number has only been climbing faster.
We've always been a fully remote team who is passionate about helping artists, and we've always embraced the ever changing music landscape. This is how we've come about our 17 years finding new ways to build out tools that will support the needs of artists today. Pivoting to allocate resources for artists during a pandemic has allowed us to adapt our entire suite of tools and add even more value for artists across the globe.
As a team, we’re elated that since March, artists have earned over $5.4 million in total revenue, commission-free, directly from their fans through their websites. As an all-in-one, one stop shop music platform, we’re always expanding on and improving our suite of tools.
The bulk of these sales include physical goods and services; merchandise sales such as CDs, vinyl, band t-shirts and other apparel (like face masks!)
Next, digital goods like sheet music, lyric books, sample packs, and services such as music lessons account for almost $600k of sales.
Fan subscription sales have also picked up, with Bandzoogle members exploring revenue streams and relationship building by building out fan clubs with offerings for their super fans.
Online features such as the new tip jar for live streams, pay what you want albums, and tiered subscriptions has democratized the fan experience and allowed access to artists to any level of fan. Ticketed live streams also allow fans to watch their favourite musicians perform from anywhere.
Our members have proven time and time again they’re resilient and driven. As musicians, it's important to be able to deliver art to a world that needs it more than ever, in a way that’s safely consumable.
We’ll continue to develop ways you can safely monetize your music business through your website, and I can’t wait to see the progressive, positive impact of our upcoming updates on the global music community.
