2018 was a year worth celebrating for Bandzoogle. We released a slew of new features, turned 15, and saw one of our earliest employees become CEO, breaking ground as one of the few females to currently head a technology company.
In case you missed any of these stories, here are the highlights!
New templates
This year we released four new templates, three new template variations, as well as blank templates! Remember, you can try out any of these templates in the Edit Theme tab, preview them, and even switch templates without losing any content (and you can switch back to your old template if you change your mind!).
Echo: A slick, narrow content template with a brand new site wide music player!
Forte: Forte features controllable content width, stylized animations and scrolling, and comes in four different variations to start with.
Mezzo: Mezzo features a fixed header photo in the portrait orientation that’s perfect for the lone wolf studio musician, music teacher, singer songwriter, composer, or beats producer.
Anthem: Anthem has a unique frame for your content that contains your music player, social media icons, your band name, and your navigation. The frame then scrolls with you as you navigate the site.
Blank Templates: We went through our most popular templates and stripped them down to their essence. We brought all colours down to a basic grey and white canvas, and simplified the font options, giving you a blank canvas to work with.
Primer Variants: We added three new styles to Primer, one of our most popular templates: playful, elegant, and sombre.
New Features
2018 was a feature heavy year for Bandzoogle, and one of our main guides was member requests. We checked off a lot of items members have been asking for, and introduced a few surprises as well!
Image + Text Feature: We rolled out a beautiful new feature that will make it easy and quick to create stunning layouts with your images and text, with customizable display options.
Section Background Images: Sections are a great way to visually define content on your site, and now you can add images to these sections as well to spice them up visually.
Stripe and Easypost: Earlier this year we added Stripe as an additional way to process payments on your website. We also introduced an Easypost integration to give you more powerful shipping options for your store items.
New image editing tools: We added an inline editor that allows you to do all your editing right on Bandzoogle, without using an outside tool. We added cropping, resizing, image filters, alignment options, and some preset ratios and shapes as well!
Duplicate page content and layouts: This was one of the most requested features of all time here at Bandzoogle. We added the ability to copy pages, their layout, and their content, allowing you to duplicate anything you want in order to more easily structure your pages.
Carousel view for events and blog: This new view condenses your events and blog posts into a beautiful, slideshow style carousel that is perfect for homepages and one page sites.
One Page Site Tools: This was a biggie - we added tools to help you turn your site into a single page explosion of goodness. This is great if you want to keep things simple, or make your site into a dedicated EPK.
New Theme Chooser: We released a beautiful refresh of the theme chooser, which you can access by clicking "Edit Theme" in your control panel, and then clicking "View Themes". The theme chooser now shows a preview on both desktop and mobile, and gives several mood options to customize the colours of your site.
More Fonts and Stock Imagery: We added 12 more display and script fonts and 70 stock photos that will work for a wide range of music genres. This is in addition to the dozens of display and handwritten font options and images currently available in the Theme Editor.
Along with tackling these major updates, we also launched several smaller ones:
New CEO
Stacey isn't exactly a new hire - she’s been with us for over ten years (long-term members might even recognize her name from your support inquiries - Stacey was Bandzoogle’s first support tech!)
We were all so excited to see her promoted to this position, and her move up garnered big recognition from Billboard, Hypebot, and FYI Music News.
15th Anniversary
Finally, we celebrated our 15th anniversary as a company - a big milestone in the online world. To celebrate our 15th, our lead designer Josh put together this beautiful infographic.
So we hope you enjoyed all the new features and templates released this year, and wish you all the best in the coming year!
