Adding physical versions of your albums allows fans to hold their very own copy of your cassette, CD, or vinyl in hand. With the Pro or Standard plan, you’ll be able to sell and send physical copies of your albums directly to your fans’ doors.

How to create a new album using the ‘Store’ feature

Before you create a physical cassette, CD, or vinyl version of your album, you can use the ‘Store’ feature to set the album details. This is useful if you aren’t creating a digital version of your album. If you are creating a digital and physical version of your album, skip to the next section.

To start creating your physical cassette, CD, or vinyl album, follow these steps:

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click ‘Pages’ and open the page on which you’ll be working
  2. Click ‘Add feature’
  3. Select the ‘Store’ feature and use the placement arrows to set the feature’s location
  4. Click ‘Add Product’
  5. From the ‘Product Type’ dropdown, select ‘CD,’ ‘Vinyl,’ or ‘Cassette’
  6. From the ‘Album’ dropdown, select existing album you want to use, or click ‘create a new album’
    • Choose an existing album from the dropdown list to link this physical product to a digital download of an album already created in your Bandzoogle account.
    • Click 'Create a new album' if you’d like to create a standalone physical album that isn’t linked to an existing digital album download.

Creating a new album

  1. If you create a new album, complete the following details:
    • Description:
      • Album name
      • Artist: this will default to your ‘Site profile’ name. You can adjust the artist name for the album without affecting your ‘Site profile’ name
      • Release year: choose the album release year from the dropdown
    • Images: Upload your main album image and other images for your album. A mini photo gallery will be created if you upload multiple images.
    • Description: Add any details or notes about your physical album here.
    • UPC code: Add the UPC Code for the physical album. Check out this Help article to learn more about UPC codes.
    • Linking and sharing: Use the toggle to ‘Allow direct linking’ in this section. This option will create a unique page and URL for your album
    • Bonus files: Click ‘Upload files’ to upload liner notes, a lyrics booklet, sheet music, additional album images, etc., ‘Bonus files’ will be included in the emailed album zip folder. You can upload multiple files here.
  2. Click ‘Save album’

Creating a physical album

Once you’ve created your top-level album details, you can add the physical product. To create a physical cassette, CD, or vinyl product, add your product details:

  • Product type: Will display the product type you previously selected - can be set to CD, Vinyl, Cassette, Product/Service, File download, Bundle, or Gift card
  • Album: Will display the name of the album connected - can be set to your preference.
  • Product name: Will automatically appear as the product type - can be set to your preference.
  • Description (optional): Add any details or notes about your physical album here.
  • Images: Upload your main album image and other images for your album. A mini photo gallery will be created if you upload multiple images.
  • Purchase type:
    • Free: Allows fans to purchase your physical album for free. Shipping will still be applied on checkout.
    • Paid - fixed price: You set a purchase price for the product.
    • Paid - fans set price: You allow your fans to set the price they want to pay for the physical product. A minimum amount can be set here.
  • Price: Set the price for your product.
  • Is on sale (Pro only): Toggle on to set up sale pricing.
  • Subscriber pricing: Toggle on and to set a special price for your site subscribers.
    • Lowest applicable tier: set the lowest subscription tier for which this pricing will be available.
    • Subscriber purchase type:
      • Free
      • Paid - fixed price: You set a purchase price for the item.
        • Optional: Select ‘Is on sale’ to set a sale price or a discount percentage.
      • Paid - fans set price: You allow your fans to set the price they want to pay for the item. A minimum amount can be set here.
  • Taxjar category: To be used if you are connected to Taxjar.
  • Include digital download of this album: Toggle on for fans to receive the digital version of your album when they purchase the physical item
  • Linking and sharing: Use the toggle to ‘Allow direct linking’ in this section. This option will create a unique page and URL for your album.
  • Free download: Use the toggle to attach a free digital download of an album, a track, or single.
  • Inventory (Pro only):
    • No: Does not track inventory.
    • Yes: Set the number of items available in stock. If your stock goes to 0, the album will be set to ‘Not available’ on your site.
  • Shipping:
    • Don’t charge shipping
    • Custom shipping price: Set a charge for the first item, additional items, and an international shipping surcharge.
    • Use my PayPal shipping settings: Apply the shipping fees set within your PayPal account.
    • Use EasyPost shipping settings: Apply the shipping fees set within your EasyPost account.
  • Weight: You can specify the item's weight in ounces here; this will help calculate shipping charges if you have connected to EasyPost. You can learn more about shipping merch here: Shipping Merch
  • Handling surcharge: This is an optional fee to cover any additional shipping costs like materials and packaging. It can also be used to add shipping charges to non-standard items that are light but sizable where charging for shipping by weight doesn't work. Once you’ve added your cassette, CD, or vinyl details, click ‘Save product.’
  • Upsell products (Pro only): To encourage extra sales, select up to three complementary products to appear as "Frequently purchased together" with this product.

How to associate a physical format with a digital album

Once you have added a digital album to your site using the ‘Album’ feature, you can associate a physical cassette, CD, or vinyl with it easily. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ control panel, click on the page where your ‘Album’ feature is visible
  2. Click directly on the ‘Album’ feature
  3. To the right of your ‘Album’ description, click ‘Add cassette, CD, or vinyl’ in the ‘Formats’ section
    • Your digital ‘Album’ will be automatically associated with the physical cassette, CD or vinyl and will be included as a download with purchase. Your physical item will inherit details from your ‘Album.’
  4. On the next screen, click 'Add Product'
  5. In the 'Type' dropdown, click on either ‘CD,’ ‘Vinyl,’ or ‘Cassette’
  6. You can now complete the following details:
    • Product name: Your item will automatically appear as ‘Album Name - CD’ or ‘Album Name - Vinyl’ or ‘Album Name - Cassette’ unless you adjust this field. In the gray text below, you’ll see how your product name will appear.
    • Purchase type:
      • Free: Allows fans to purchase your physical album for free. Shipping will still be applied on checkout.
      • Paid - fixed price: Set a purchase price for the product.
      • Paid - fans set price: Allow your fans to set the price they want to pay for the physical product. A minimum amount can be set here.
    • Subscriber sale options:
      • No: No sale price for subscribers.
      • Yes: Set a subscriber purchase price type and choose the lowest ‘Subscriber tier amount’ to determine which subscribers can access the sale price.
    • Description: Add any details or notes about your physical album here.
    • Images: Upload your main album image and other images for your album. A mini photo gallery will be created if you upload multiple images.
    • Status:
      • Available: Sets your item available for purchase.
      • Not available: Displays your item on your page, but it is not available for purchase.
      • Hidden: Does not display the item on your page.
    • UPC code: Add the UPC Code for the physical album.
    • Download: Your digital album will be automatically associated and will be included as a digital download if the album is set to allow download/sale.
    • Track inventory:
      • No: Does not track inventory.
      • Yes: Set the number of items available in stock. If your stock goes to 0, the album will be set to ‘Not available’ on your site.
    • Attach a free download: If desired, choose an additional music file to include with the album download.
    • Shipping:
      • Don’t charge shipping
      • Custom shipping price: Set a charge for the first item, additional items, and an international shipping surcharge.
      • Use my EasyPost account for shipping: Apply the shipping fees set within your EasyPost account
    • Weight: You can specify the item's weight in ounces here; this will help calculate shipping charges if you have connected to EasyPost. You can learn more about shipping merch here: Shipping Merch
    • Handling surcharge: This is an optional fee to cover any additional shipping costs like materials and packaging. It can also be used to add shipping charges to non-standard items that are light but sizable where charging for shipping by weight doesn't work.
    • Tariff code: Tariff harmonization code associated with whatever product you are shipping. You can search for them on hts.usitc.gov. You only need this if you are using EasyPost to make international shipments.
    • TaxJar category: To be used if you are connected to TaxJar.
    • Include digital download of this album: Toggle on for fans to receive the digital version of your album when they purchase the physical item.
    • Allow direct linking:
      • Yes: Creates a unique page for your album, with a unique URL.
      • No: No unique link for your album, but it can be seen on the page you place it onto.
  7. Click 'Save'

How to change your physical album details

If details about your album change, such as a UPC code or liner notes, you can update your album details by following these steps:

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click ‘Pages’ and open the page where your physical album was added
  2. Click on the ‘Store’ or ‘Album’ feature displaying your item
    • If nestled in a digital album, click on the product name in the ‘Formats’ area.
    • If in a ‘Store’ feature, click directly on the album to make adjustments.
  3. Make desired changes to your item
  4. Click ‘Save’

How to delete a physical album

To delete your physical album, or remove it completely from your website, follow these steps:

  1. Click the ‘Selling Tools’ tab at the top of your Bandzoogle control panel
  2. Click ‘Products’ on the left
  3. Click the ‘...’ symbol in the ‘Actions’ column, next to the physical album you’d like to delete
  4. Click ‘Delete’

Deleting a cassette, CD, or vinyl in a ‘Store’ feature

  1. Click on the ‘Store’ feature containing your cassette, CD, or vinyl
  2. Click on the ‘…’ icon under ‘Actions’ next to your cassette, CD or vinyl listing
  3. Click on the following actions accordingly:
    • Remove: removes the cassette, CD, or vinyl from the page ‘Store’ feature. You will be able to use the cassette, CD, or vinyl elsewhere on your site. If direct linking is enabled, the direct link for the cassette, CD, or vinyl will still be accessible.
    • Delete: permanently deletes the cassette, CD, or vinyl. Click ‘Delete’ to confirm deletion.

Deleting a format within an ‘Album’ feature

  1. Click on the ‘Album’ feature with your cassette, CD, or vinyl
  2. Under ‘Formats,’ click on the ‘x’ icon next to the format
  3. Click ‘Delete’ to permanently delete the cassette, CD, or vinyl format associated with the digital album

Note: Deleting a format within the ‘Album’ feature will permanently delete the product. This will delete the item from any other selling tool as well.

Reporting physical album sales to Luminate (formerly SoundScan)

In your cassette, CD, or vinyl product settings, you’ll be able to add unique UPC codes to report your album sales to Luminate (formerly SoundScan). To learn more about UPC codes, please view our article on reporting sales to Luminate (formerly SoundScan).
