Your website address is specific to you. Each Bandzoogle website plan includes one free custom domain registration, or the addition of an existing custom domain. Should you leave Bandzoogle, you can take that domain with you. If you already have a non-country-coded domain registered with another company, we'll happily take over the domain registration and manage it here for you as long as it uses an accepted extension (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .name.)

This Help article includes:

  • Transferring your existing non-country-coded domain to Bandzoogle
  • Pushing your existing domain to Bandzoogle
  • Transferring your Bandzoogle domain to another domain registrar
  • Domain transfer exceptions

Transferring your existing non-country-coded domain to Bandzoogle

To use a domain you already own with Bandzoogle, you have two options:

  1. you can point the nameservers to us and keep the domain with your current registrar, or
  2. you can transfer the domain registration to us if it meets the above-mentioned criteria. To transfer the domain registration to us, follow the steps below.

Note: To transfer or point an externally-registered domain name to Bandzoogle, you must be on a website plan.

For more information about pointing the domain to your website instead, please view the ‘Existing Domains’ section of the 'Adding Domain Names' Help article.

  1. Through your current domain registrar, change the domain nameservers to point to Bandzoogle
    • Our nameserver settings are:
      • dns1.sitezoogle.com
      • dns2.sitezoogle.com
      • dns3.sitezoogle.com
      • dns4.sitezoogle.com
  2. Contact your current domain registration company and ask them to:

    • Unlock the domain name
    • Turn off domain privacy protection

Note: This may be set up in more than one area, so please disable all areas where domain privacy is enabled.

    • Set the administrative contact to your email address

Note: You must use an email address to which you currently have access, as this is where all correspondence for the domain transfer will be sent.

    • Provide you with a transfer code.

Note: The transfer code may also be called: "EPP Code," "domain authorization code," or "auth code."

  3. From the ‘Help’ tab in your Bandzoogle account, click ‘Email us’

  4. In the ‘Summary of message’ field, enter ‘Domain Transfer to Bandzoogle’
  5. In the ‘Your email address’ field, leave the email address as-is or change it to the one you use most often
  6. In the ‘Message’ field, include the following:

    • Your domain name
    • Your administrative email address

Note: You can generally find this in the Contact Information section of your current domain registration account.

    • Transfer code

Note: It’s best to copy and paste this case-sensitive code into the message field. We must receive the code exactly as provided by your current registrar, or the domain transfer will fail. Please include all punctuation marks included in the code.

  7. (Optional) Next to ‘Attachment’, click ‘Choose file’ and attach a screenshot of the domain transfer code

  8. Click ‘Send help request’

Within 24 hours you should receive an email from Sitezoogle asking you to click a link to approve the transfer. Open the email and choose ‘I approve’ to allow the transfer to proceed.

Notes:

  • A domain transfer takes 5-10 days to complete. Once in progress, we’ll let you know if there are any issues with the transfer. There is no way for Bandzoogle staff to speed up the transfer process.
  • We can only accept domain transfers with the following extensions: .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .name.
  • Because country-coded domains (Examples: co.uk, .ca, .de, etc) require proof of residency, we are not able to register them or accept transfers for them.

Pushing your existing domain to Bandzoogle

Bandzoogle is a domain reseller for Enom. If your domain is already with Enom, a domain transfer is not possible. Instead you will simply need to push the domain to our ownership.

Note: you will always be able to transfer out your domain registration should you decide to leave Bandzoogle.

  1. Log in to your Enom.com account
  2. Click ‘Domains’, then ‘My Domains’
  3. Click your domain name
  4. Click ‘General Settings’
  5. Click ‘Push this name to another account in our system’
  6. Next to ‘Domains to push’, enter your domain name (e.g. domainname.com)
  7. Next to ‘Push domains to’, enter: Bandzoogle
  8. Next to ‘Contact information’, select ‘Do not push’
  9. Next to ‘Transfer lock’, DO NOT SELECT

Warning: If selected, Bandzoogle (or any other company) will not be able to accept a transfer for 60-days.

  10. Click ‘Push Domains’

This adds your domain to the Bandzoogle Enom account where we will manage it for you. We will also renew the domain for you each year, as long as your Bandzoogle website plan is active.

Transferring your Bandzoogle domain to another domain registrar

If you decide to move to another host or want to manage your own domain, we can transfer the domain to your ownership.

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab click the arrow next to your username in the top right corner
  2. Select ‘Account Details’ from the dropdown menu
  3. Under the ‘Cancel Account’ section, click where it says ‘click this link’
  4. Click ‘Please send me the transfer code for [yourdomainname.com]’
  5. Fill out the ‘Domain contact information’ form.

    • First and Last name: The owner of the domain.
    • Email: You must use an email address to which you currently have access, as this is where all correspondence for the domain transfer will be sent.
    • Street, City, Country, State, Postal code and Phone number: This will be used for your domain contact information. You may later select privacy protection from your new registrar or host.

Warning: All fields must be completed with correct and current information, or the domain transfer will fail.

  6. Click the ‘Submit Cancel Request’ button at the bottom of the page.

Once you’ve submitted the cancel request, your domain will be unlocked and you will receive an email to confirm the transfer from your new registrar. You will need to click ‘Accept transfer’ to confirm the transfer. This email will also be sent to the address you provided in the transfer form.

After accepting the transfer you will receive a second email, containing the transfer code. Provide the code to your new domain registrar or host so they can initiate the process to complete the transfer.

Notes:

  • A domain transfer takes 5-10 days to complete. Once in progress, we’ll let you know if there are any issues with the transfer. There is no way for Bandzoogle staff to speed up the process. To expedite the transfer, please click the ‘Accept transfer’ link in the transfer email and provide your new registrar with the transfer code as soon as possible.
  • If you’d like to transfer away your domain name, but do not want to cancel your Bandzoogle website account, contact us for help.

Domain Transfer Exceptions

Bandzoogle is a domain reseller for Enom. If Bandzoogle has registered a domain name for you, we can give you ownership by pushing your domain to your own Enom account.

With any domain name, you must wait 60 days after the initial registration or any previous transfers to initiate a transfer away from us. As a workaround, we can push the domain to you through Enom instead.

  1. Create an account at Enomcentral.com
  2. Enter your billing information (Required)

Note: Although Enom accounts are free, entering billing details is required in case you need to renew your Enom domain later. If this information is not entered, we are unable to push the domain to your ownership.

  3. Contact Enom support and request that they enable 'Domain Pushes' on your account. Once Enom has enabled this option for you, contact our support team.

  4. From the ‘Help’ tab in your Bandzoogle account, click ‘Email us’
  5. In the ‘Summary of message’ field, enter ‘Domain Push to Enom’
  6. In the ‘Your email address’ field, leave the email address as-is or change it to one you use most often
  7. In the ‘Message’ field, include the following:

    • “Please push [domainname.com] to Enom account [enom username]

Note: This must be the Enom username you login with, not your Enom email address, or personal name.

  8. Click ‘Send help request’

Our support team will receive your email, and push the domain name to your Enom account. This usually happens within the hour, but can take up to 24 hours. Once the push is completed, our support team will provide confirmation by email, and you can access your domain in Enom account right away.
