Adding music to your website allows fans, presenters, and industry professionals to listen to and buy tracks and albums directly from your website.

Number of Allowed Audio Uploads

The number of audio files you can upload to your website is determined by your plan type.

Plan type

  • EPK plan: 10 audio files
  • Lite plan: 10 audio files
  • Standard plan: 50 audio files
  • Pro plan: Unlimited audio files

Note: Each audio file counts toward your limit (Lite and Standard plans) regardless of size or length. When you’ve reached your limit you will see an upgrade message. You can upgrade to a new plan or delete audio files to free up more space.

To add a music feature to your website, start with these steps:

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click ‘Pages’ and open the page on which you’ll be working
  2. Click ‘Add feature’
  3. Select the music feature you’d like to add and use the placement arrows to set the feature’s location

Note: The 'Site-wide player' will automatically be placed at the bottom of your website. It cannot be moved as it is built into our system.

Music features

Bandzoogle is made for musicians. Our music features display seamlessly on any template and help you share and sell your music directly from your website, commission-free.

Album

With the ‘Album’ feature, you can sell a collection of tracks, commission-free. To learn more about adding music to an ‘Album’ feature, read our ‘Selling an album’ Help article.

Single

Selling music ahead of your album release is easy to do using our ‘Single’ feature. This feature is dedicated to promoting a single track, complete with artwork. To learn more about adding a single to your website, read our ‘Selling a single’ Help article.

Track list

If you would like to sell tracks on your website that aren’t a part of an album or EP, you can use the ‘Track list’ feature. This is useful if you’d like to sell tracks from different albums or a collection of singles. Compact player

You can add a small, compact player anywhere on your website. This feature works well on a page with different column layouts. The compact player displays one track at a time but will play the added tracks continuously.

Site-wide player

The site-wide player appears at the bottom of your website and will play tracks continuously as visitors navigate your website’s pages.

To add the ‘Site-wide player’:

  1. Head to your ‘Edit Content’ control panel
  2. Click on the ‘Site-wide player’ feature located at the bottom of any of your pages.

    Note: The ‘site-wide music’ feature will be automatically added in your template. If you remove the feature and want to add it again, click ‘Add feature’ and choose the ‘Site-wide player.’

  3. Click ‘Add tracks’
  4. To create a new track within this feature, enter the ‘Track info’ including the following:
    • Track name: enter the name of your track
    • Artist: this will default to your ‘Site profile’ name. You can adjust the artist name field without affecting your ‘Site profile’ name
  5. Click ‘Upload’ in the ‘Audio file’ area. This prompt will open your device’s file browser. You can upload MP3, WAV, or FLAC files.
  6. In the ‘Track preview’ area, choose from the following options:
    • Preview clip: Set your preview clip range. Choose the start and end times of your preview clip using the dropdown options
    • Upload custom preview: You can upload an MP3 file with a custom preview you’ve created. This is useful if you have a watermarked preview clip
    • Play full track when shared: Choose this option if you would like the track to play in full when the direct link is shared
    • Use preview clip when shared: Choose this option if you would like the preview clip to play when the direct link is shared
  7. Set your ‘Pricing & availability’ with the following options:
    • No: your album will not be available for download/sale from your website
    • Yes: your album will be available for download/sale under the condition of your ‘Purchase Type’
  8. Choose your ‘Purchase type’ from the dropdown options:
    • Free
    • Free - require email address: allows fans to download your album for free, in exchange for their email address, which will be added to your ‘Mailing List’ members
    • Free - require member login: allows fans to download your album if they login or register as your site member
    • Paid - fixed price: You set a purchase price for the album
      • Optional: Select ‘Is on sale’ to set a sale price or a discount percentage.
    • Paid - fans set price: Allow your fans to set the price they want to pay for the album. A minimum amount can be set here.
  9. Set your ID3 tags option:
    • Automatically generate: creates the ID3 tag from the data in this track information
    • Leave tags as they are: use your track’s embedded ID3 tags. Select this option if you’ve generated your own ID3 tags
  10. Create your ‘Track details’ (optional):
    • ISRC code: Enter your track’s unique ISRC code. To learn more about ISRC codes and Luminate reporting, review the ‘Reporting Sales to Luminate (formerly SoundScan)’ article
    • Track notes (optional): Enter track notes. An ‘Info’ link will be generated next to your track name, which will link to a page containing the track and your notes.
    • Lyrics (optional): Enter lyrics. A ‘Lyric’ link will be generated next to your track name, which will link to a page containing the track and lyrics. If you have also added ‘Track notes,’ only an ‘Info’ link will appear
  11. Click ‘Save track’
  12. Repeat these steps for each track

You can also upload multiple tracks simultaneously with the ‘Upload multiple tracks’ option. Each track that successfully uploads will be listed. You can fill in the following options for track details:

  • Audio file lists the audio file name. You can click ‘Replace’ to replace the track file or click ‘X’ to remove the track from this upload
  • Track info:
    • Track name: enter the name of your track
    • Artist: this will default to your ‘Site profile’ name. You can adjust the artist name for the track without affecting your ‘Site profile’ name
    • ISRC code: Enter your track’s unique ISRC code. To learn more about ISRC codes and Luminate reporting, please see: ‘Reporting Sales to Luminate (formerly SoundScan)’
    • Track notes (optional): Click on the dropdown arrow to enter track notes. An ‘Info’ link will be generated next to your track name, which will link to a page containing the track and your notes.
    • Lyrics (optional): Click on the dropdown arrow to enter lyrics. A ‘Lyric’ link will be generated next to your track name, which will link to a page containing the track and lyrics. If you have also added ‘Track notes,’ only an ‘Info’ link will appear.
  • Pricing and availability options:
    • Allow download/sale:
      • No: your track will not be available for download/sale from your website
      • Yes: your track will be available for download/sale under the condition of your ‘Purchase Type’:
        • Free
        • Free - require email address: allows fans to download your track for free, in exchange for their email address, which will be added to your ‘Mailing List’ members
        • Free - require member login: allows fans to download your track if they login or register as a site member
        • Paid - fixed price: Set a purchase price for the track
          • Optional: Select ‘Is on sale’ to set a sale price or a discount percentage (pro-only)
        • Paid - fans set price: Allow your fans to set the price they want to pay for the track. A minimum amount can be set here.
        • Subscriber pricing: toggle on to apply special pricing for fan subscribers
      • Apply this pricing for all tracks: Applies the pricing and availability options to all tracks in this bulk upload
  • Preview settings:
    • Preview clip: Set your preview clip range. Choose the start and end times of your preview clip using the dropdown options
    • Upload custom preview: You can upload an MP3 file with a custom preview you’ve created. This is useful if you have a watermarked preview clip
    • Play full track when shared: Choose this option if you would like the track to play in full when the direct link is shared
    • Use preview clip when shared: Choose this option if you would like the preview clip to play when the direct link is shared
    • Apply these Track preview settings for all tracks: Applies your preview settings to all tracks in this bulk upload
  • ID3 tags:
    • Automatically generate: creates the ID3 tag from the data set on each track
    • Leave tags as they are: will use your track’s embedded ID3 tags. Select this option if you’ve generated your own ID3 tags.
    • Apply ID3 tag settings for all tracks: applies this ID3 tag setting to all tracks in this bulk upload.

You can also add your websites' existing tracks or upload tracks from Soundcloud to your ‘Site-wide player.’ Here are the steps:

To use an existing track’:

  1. Head to your ‘Edit Content’ control panel
  2. Click on the ‘Site-wide music’ player
  3. Click ‘Add tracks’
  4. Choose ‘Use existing track’
  5. Click ‘Add’ next to each track you’d like to add to the playlist.
  6. Click ‘Back’ and you’ll see the track(s) in your playlist

To import a track from Soundcloud:

  1. Head to your ‘Edit Content’ control panel
  2. Click on the ‘Site-wide music’ player
  3. Click ‘Add tracks’
  4. In the next screen, choose ‘Import from Soundcloud’

Note: Importing tracks from Soundcloud requires updates to your permission settings in Soundcloud. To learn more, please review the ‘Importing Soundcloud Tracks’ Help article.

Playback options

Your fans will be able to stream tracks on your website. You can set the playback options for the track preview, creating a custom playback clip.

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, select the page your music feature is on. Click on the feature to open it
  2. Below your added tracks, choose from the following options:
    • Disabled on intro page (Site-wide player only): When selected, the Site-wide music player will not display on the Intro page. An Intro page is not the same as your homepage.
    • Playback type:
      • Full tracks, high quality (128kbps)
      • Full tracks, uncompressed
      • Preview clips only

        Note: Preview times are set in the options for each track when they are added to a music feature

      • No playback: In the Site-wide Music Player, this allows the player to display song titles but not stream tracks. In other Music features this allows your album to display the track list without the option to stream.
    • Shuffle tracks: This option plays tracks in a random order instead of the order uploaded.
    • Loop when completed: When selected, this option will start the playlist again (even if it’s a single track) once the end is reached.
    • Sharing: Allows a visitor to share your album or tracks to social media, email, or using a direct URL.

Adding music to an EPK

When building an EPK, you can add an album, single, or tracklist to it to show off your latest music. Keep the purpose of your EPK in mind when selecting which music feature you’ll be using. For example: If you’re building an EPK to promote your latest album to media, use the ‘Album’ feature.

To add music to your EPK, follow these steps:

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click ‘Pages’ and select your EPK page

    Note: If on the EPK plan, you’ll just need to click on the ‘Edit Content’ tab as you won’t have additional pages.

  2. Click 'Add Feature'
  3. Select the music feature you’d like to add and use the placement arrows to set the feature’s location
  4. Follow the steps on screen to create your Album, Single, or add your songs to your tracklist

External music players

If you’d like to add a music player that is hosted elsewhere, you can use our ‘Bandcamp player’ feature, ‘Airbit’ feature, or use the HTML code feature to add external players to your website.

Bandcamp Player

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click ‘Pages’ and open the page on which you’ll be working
  2. Click ‘Add feature’
  3. Select ‘Bandcamp player’ and use the placement arrows to set the feature’s location
  4. Enter your Bandcamp account URL. It should be in this format: http://yourmusic.bandcamp.com/album_or_track_name

This will post a Bandcamp player to the page that automatically matches your website’s design. Fans can preview your tracks directly on your website, and click ‘Buy’ to complete a purchase through Bandcamp.

Airbit Player

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click ‘Pages’ and open the page on which you’ll be working
  2. Click ‘Add feature’
  3. Select ‘Airbit’ and use the placement arrows to set the feature’s location
  4. Enter your Airbit username
  5. Choose your store configuration
  6. Click ‘Save’

This will add an Airbit player to the page that automatically matches your website’s design. Fans can preview and buy tracks directly on your website.

Adding music using HTML code (Spotify, Soundcloud, etc.)

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click ‘Pages’ and open the page on which you’ll be working
  2. Click ‘Add feature’
  3. Select ‘HTML code’ and use the placement arrows to set the feature’s location
  4. Paste the external music player embed code into the text box
  5. Click ‘Save’

This will add your external music player to the page.

Note: We cannot modify or provide support for external HTML code. If you have questions or concerns about the embedded feature, or require support for the widget, you’ll need to contact the company that supplied the code.

Troubleshooting upload issues

If you are experiencing issues uploading music to your website, here are some troubleshooting steps to take:

  1. It could be a sign of a weak or slow wifi connection. Try switching to a different wifi connection if possible or tethering to mobile data to see if that solves the problem.
  2. Temporarily disable any VPNs or antivirus software that you may have running, and attempt the upload again.
  3. Disable any active browser extensions and attempt the upload again, to see if they may have been interfering.
