One vinyl record sold is nice, but two is even better! Over the last couple years, fans have been supporting their favorite musicians by shopping at their online merch tables more than ever.
When a fan is already interested in your music, CDs, or t-shirts, they're invested in what else you have to offer. Now there’s an easy way to let them know about the related products you have available! Introducing: Upsells on your music website.
The purpose of upsells is to increase sales or more specifically, to increase the average order value of each purchase made through your store. Upsells help drive additional album purchases and can be used to promote products in your store alongside other items. This upsell option is available on the Pro plan, and includes the ability to suggest products for your fans to add to their cart along with the item they already intend to purchase.
Here are a few ways you can use upsells in your website store to maximize revenue:
- Sell multiple formats of the same album
- Add your most popular products as upsells
- Associate merch, like a branded hat, with the corresponding album
- Suggest a relevant a merch item with live show ticket
If you’re looking to make money with music online, this built-in option to increase sales is a handy way to point out add-ons that may be valuable to your customers.
To add upsells to your products, head to your website store. Upsell products can be added to any Bandzoogle store items as long as they are available, and have a fixed price.
Head to your Selling Tools dashboard to select the Store feature you’d like to work with. Then, choose the product to which you want an upsell option added. You can add up to 3 upsell items per product, choosing from physical merchandise, albums, digital files, or singles. You can also add upsell items to gift cards.
Adding upsells to your online music store is a great way to encourage fans to purchase more from you. To help with this, be sure to choose items as upsells that are relevant to your initial product. This will make your fan’s shopping experience feel more personal, and will result in more sales.
Integrated Printful items can be added as upsell products on other items, but can’t have upsell products added to them.
When music is added to a product bundle, those purchases are made together, making the music ineligible to be reported to Luminate. If you’re looking to chart for music sales, consider adding your new music as an upsell product to increase purchases; the suggested item will appear to your fan when shopping but will count as a separate purchase, which makes it eligible for Luminate reporting.
Once you’ve built a strong fanbase, consider adding upsells to your store as part of your music marketing strategy. Fans making purchases on your website are already interested in what you have to offer, so they are the most likely to buy more items from you. Use upsells to make it easy for them to add items to their checkout cart.
