Next week our Director of Artist Relations Dave Cool will be attending the Folk Music Ontario conference, which takes place October 16-19 at the Westin Bristol Place in Toronto.
FMO brings together festival programmers, bookers, folk musicians and other key players in the Canadian folk, roots, and traditional music community for a series of workshops, panels and of course, music showcases.
Dave will be moderating a panel, speaking on another, as well as offering free website reviews while there. Here are the details:
Website Demo Derby
Friday, Oct. 17
Do you think your website is all that and a bag of (binary) bits?
This panel will live-critique your website and let you know where improvements can be made to attract people and keep ‘em coming back. Let’s face it- the world, including the music industry, is always one click away from its target audience. Fall short and those clickers are already gone. Do it right and you just might make a new fan.
Social Media for Dummies
Saturday, Oct. 18th
Music conferences are lousy with social media panels covering all kinds of ways to up your social media cred with shiny new apps and platforms meant to skyrocket your online presence. But what if you’re not there yet? What if you are a recent passenger on the social media train and feel left behind? This panel will cover the basics and act as a “101” type of panel for those of us still learning the ropes. Soon enough you’ll be Facebooking and Instagramming with the best of ’em!
