In recent months we’ve added an image and text feature with a button. Many of our members asked to be able to also add a standalone button, with customizable text. So we’ve gone ahead and done just that!
Now you can add a button to your music website, in multiple places, on any page. The button will match your website template’s design by default.
Where to add a button on your website
The purpose of a button is to direct your website visitors’ attention to something you want them to do. Maybe you want to promote a new video, an upcoming single, or to pre-save a release. You could also use a button on a bilingual website to point to the translated version of the page.
You can add a button anywhere, on any page. Some examples are:
‘Listen now’ button on your Music page
‘Read more’ button on your Homepage that links to your Bio page
‘View all merch’ button on your Homepage, linking to your Store page
‘Watch video’ button linking to a YouTube video
‘Contact’ button linking to an email address
‘Download EPK’ button linking to a pdf version of your press kit
A button for a different language
There are countless ways to add and customize buttons on your pages. They can sit nicely under text, an image, or just all on their own.
How to add a button to your website
Adding a button to your website is easy to do. Click Add Feature and select the Button feature. You’ll place the button on your page, then add the text which will display in the button.
From there, you can select the link type, which is where your visitors will be sent when they click the button. You can choose an external website, one of your pages, a downloadable file, an email address, or link to an album or track. If you choose an external link, enter the url below the link type. Then choose if you’d like the link to open in a new web browser window.
There are some display options to choose from as well. Select if you’d like the button to fit the text size, or stretch out to match the width of the column it’s placed in. Next, align the button to the left, center, or right side of the page.
The button size is set to medium by default, but you can set it to be small, large, or extra large as well. Finally, you can set the top and bottom spacing to small, medium, large, extra large, or enter in a custom number. This will set the amount of whitespace above and below the button.
To edit your button later on, just click on the feature and open up the options again.
How to style your button
The look of your button - the color and text - will be set in the Theme Editor. It will match all of the other buttons on your page by default. That means you can head to the Edit Theme area and scroll down to the Button section. Choose the shape from rounded, pill, or square, and decide if you’d like it to be solid or an outline.
The color of your button will be set per section, by choosing from the color palette under ‘Button color.’
We hope you can make good use out of the button feature and can’t wait to see how you use it!
