Of all the content you can add to your site as a musician, what is the most important?
Sure, having strong images is key for making your site look snappy. Clear text will draw in good search results. Showcasing streaming or live events in a calendar is super important in getting fans to watch you play.
But the one thing that will really grab your audience online is what you create: your music.
Of all the features we offer here at Bandzoogle, the most robust is our music feature. It includes an online player for previewing clips or playing entire tracks. You can use it to sell your music straight from your website, with no commission fees. It can help drive traffic to specific pages, build your mailing list, and even chart your releases.
There are several styles of music features to suit your needs. From the seamless Site Wide Player, to Albums and Singles, to Track Lists and Compact Players, there are endless ways you can showcase your music.
We make sure our features are as easy to use as possible. With this in mind, we recently streamlined the control panel to make setting up music on your site even easier.
So, start uploading! Here’s a list of 11 ways you can use the music player on your website:
1. Showcase your music online
Show off your tracks, streaming directly on your site’s pages. Bandzoogle provides stylish and elegant players that can be set to play preview clips or full tracks, so your visitors can engage with your music the moment they hit your site.
Create a professional website in minutes with all of the promotional features you need. Sell music on your own music website today!
2. Provide a site-wide listening experience
Use our Site Wide Player for visitors to move through your site while seamlessly listening to tracks you’ve posted. Once the play button is clicked, the Site Wide Player will automatically play through each track (or preview clips) without interruption. It will continue playing even when visitors move between pages on your site.
Site-wide players come in a range of styles: a player in a horizontal bar at the very bottom of the pages; a ‘corner’ player with an expandable playlist when clicked; or a sidebar player embedded in vertical site menus. Different themes give you different options, and we even provide some customization to help you blend the Site Wide Player to your own theme design.

3. Sell albums, singles, and track downloads
The most powerful option with a music player at Bandzoogle is the ability to sell full albums or tracks directly through your site, with no commission fees.
When you sell a digital album, your customer gets a zipped folder containing all the tracks and album artwork, in a single download file. You can set up that album to sell individual tracks from the release, as well.
Our ‘Single’ feature is very similar: it includes album artwork, but you only add one track!
We do also have ‘Compact Player’ and ‘Track List’ features - so if you just want to have a small player in the corner of your EPK page, or have a long list of tracks that aren’t part of an album, you can do that as well.
Like our other e-commerce options, the music features use your connected Paypal or Stripe account to process payments. We don’t take a cut from those sales, so you get a lot more bank when you sell music from your Bandzoogle website!
4. Add some exclusivity to your album and single downloads with bonus files
The ‘Album’ and ‘Single’ features provide a ‘Bonus files’ option, so you can include something like a secret bonus track, booklet artwork, or a small video file with an album purchased from your site. This can help to make your digital albums more ‘exclusive,’ as you’re providing an extra element that fans couldn’t get another way.
5. Start charting
With our Pro plan, music sales are reported to Luminate (formerly SoundScan). Charts like Billboard use Luminate's data to construct their chart listings. So if you sell your work through music features on your website, it’s possible you can wind up on the Billboard charts.
6. Make selling your physical music better
The music features let you connect physical music items like CDs and Vinyl to your digital albums, and display them as purchase options alongside a player. Visitors can not only hear the tracks on your site - when they buy the physical item they can download the digital version as well. This way, they can listen to your music while waiting for their physical copy to arrive.
7. Showcase and sell beats
The music player isn’t just for bands, it can also be used to sell beats. Our music features support MP3 and FLAC, but also WAV audio file formats - so you can sell high-quality uncompressed audio, and provide previews of your work to your customers right on your page.
You can use our ‘Single’ music player to sell mixed files, or use our ‘Album’ music player to sell tracked-out versions of your beats, and the player provides a preview of these on your website.
To set up preview clips, we can automatically generate a short preview for you, or you can upload your own custom preview clip. So, if you have a watermarked version of your track you can post that file as the track preview clip, and that’s what visitors will hear on your site.
You can also include any license files for your customers in the ‘Bonus file’ option within our ‘Album’ and ‘Single’ features. You can set up multiple ‘Single’ features if you need to provide different licenses for track purchases.
8. Promote your music
Bandzoogle lets you easily share links to your tracks online. Track and album links are generated automatically for you, and each track and album URL displays a music player. This makes sharing your music easy - it’s a great way to drive traffic to your site.
Tracks and albums also have a widget option that you can use to set up a player on other sites on the web, such as on blogs or publications promoting your music. Another great way to get your music out there!

9. Provide music in different formats
Bandzoogle supports more than MP3 files: you can upload files in WAV and FLAC audio formats as well. While the player will always play an MP3 online to help make sure visitors can hear your music quickly, once the album or track is downloaded, your visitors will receive the exact files you posted, in the format you uploaded.
10. Give your email list a boost
The music features have a few options for providing a free download to your site visitors, including the option to offer a download in exchange for an email address.
This is a great way to incentivize your listeners and build your mailing list! Visitors would enter their address when they click the download option, and once they confirm their address they grab their download from your site, and you get a shiny new email address to which you can send updates.
11. Sweeten the subscriptions deal
Music players can be added to just about any page on your website, so it’s easy to showcase your tracks and win over fans. Bandzoogle provides subscription pages for all members. This allows your visitors to sign up for paid monthly subscriptions to access restricted pages on your site, and see exclusive content.
Our music players include ‘Subscriber sale options’ for pricing, so you can offer exclusive downloads to your site subscribers. That means a ‘regular’ price for non-subscribers, and a lower price (or even free option) for your paid subscribers.
Your music for the win
We hope that our refreshed music features will help you get your music out there to your fans. We’ve highlighted the main ways the music players can be used on your website, but if you use a player in your own unique way, let us know so we can pass the tip along to other musicians. Our music feature is a really powerful tool that can be leveraged to promote your music online in a lot of different ways!
