Part of your sales strategy may be to give away a track or album download for free. With your Bandzoogle account you have many different options for gifting audio to fans and media professionals alike.

Send a free download by email

Use this option to send one track or album to one person at a time. To learn how to add a ‘Music’ feature, please view the ‘Adding Music’ Help article.

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click any ‘Music’ feature
  2. From the pane on the left, click ‘Email a download’
  3. From the dropdown, select the album or track you’d like to send for free
  4. Enter the email address of your recipient
  5. Enter a message to your recipient (optional)

Note: It is against our terms of service to send unsolicited emails. You may only send emails to people who have given permission to you to do so.

Free download: Mailing List Sign-up Form

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click any Mailing List Sign-up Form feature
  2. Under ‘Signup options’ select ‘Give a free download on signup’
  3. From the dropdown, choose the album or track you’d like to provide for free
  4. Click ‘Save’

Note: When a member signs up to your mailing list we issue a confirmation email to verify that they do want to be added to the list. People joining your mailing list must click the verification link in that confirmation email before their address can be added to your list of members. Following that confirmation, we’ll send them the free download you selected for them in the Mailing List Sign-up Form.

Note: The track or album you wish to send must be added to a ‘Music’ feature.

Free download: Music Feature

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click any ‘Music’ feature
  2. Click the album or track name (whichever you’d like to provide for free)
  3. Next to ‘Allow download/sale’, select ‘Yes’
  4. Under ‘Download type’, select
    • Free: When the site visitor clicks ‘Download’, the album or track will download to their computer.
    • Free - require email address: Requires a visitor to enter their email address to receive a free download.
    • Free - require member login: Requires a visitor to register and logged in to access the download. Note: A visitor can register as a site member through a ‘Members only’ page, Blog, Forum, Guestbook, or Music feature if that requirement is enabled within the feature settings.
  5. Click ‘Save’

Free download: Blog Feature

The Bandzoogle Blog feature provides options to attach an mp3 file as a podcast within a posted article. The nature of podcasts requires that they always be downloadable, so you can also use this feature to allow visitors to download audio files directly from your site.

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click your ‘Blog’ feature
  2. Click ‘New post’ or open an existing post

  3. Next to ‘Podcast’ select either:

    • ‘Upload track’: Upload your audio file from your computer or select a file from your Dropbox account
    • ‘Track from library’: Select a track you’ve already uploaded in the music feature

  4. Click the Publish (or Update post if editing an existing post) and the podcast (audio) will now be attached to the post.

The ‘download’ button will be under that particular post. When clicked it downloads the audio file to your visitor’s computer.

Give away free download codes

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click any ‘Music’ feature
  2. From the pane on the left, select ‘Download codes’
  3. Album/Track: Choose the album or track for which you’ll be generating download codes
  4. Batch name: Title the name of this download code group (Example: New York Show)

  5. Number of codes to generate: Type in the number of codes you’d like to generate for this group.

    Note: Must be less than or equal to 100. To create more codes, add additional groups. If you have a large number of codes to generate, consider numbering the groups in sequence - for example: NY Show 1, NY Show 2, etc.

  6. Click ‘Generate Codes’
