Mailing list stats added

You can now track the effectiveness of your email campaigns, right in the control panel. As soon as a mailing list campaign is sent, you'll have access to real-time stats including read and bounce rates. This information can help you determine what types of mails your subscribers are interested in, and just as importantly, what they aren't.

Pro plan members get even more detail. For each campaign, you'll get a full graphical report including a breakdown of the links members clicked, read/unread/bounce percentages, and a chart to see your open rate over time. You can even zoom in to the member level and see exactly who clicked on a link in your email. This extra detail can help you create more effective offers and promotions over time.

You'll find this new information in the "mail campaigns" tab in the Mailing list section. One thing to note, stats are only available for campaigns from now on (older mailouts will not have stats).

Let us know what you think!

Very, very, nice. The more detailed the stats can get the better. One of the things that drew me to Bandzoogle in the first place.

I love the great new feature, just wondering how long for live chat.

Very nice work Chris.

Posted by Knowncold on November 20, 2009

great addition. Can you personalize our email campaigns? Have the name of each member populate automatically, such as "Hello Chris," or a greeting of our choice like "Big up Chris" {greeting}[name],

This would be greaterSmile

This is great! I have been using your "partner" reverbnation for this info, but I'll check out yours and see how it works. One less entity to pay!! Smile

Known - this is on our suggestions list for a future update.

Nima - Not at this time.

chrisfuller - You can find these stats in the Mailing list tab by clicking the Email campaign tab. It won't show stats for past mailouts, but will for new mailouts.

Great work!

Am i supposed to be able to click into the corresponding stats to see for instance, who unsubscribed, who bounced, and who opened it?
That way i can adjust the master list, which might be kept off line in a separate file?

Thanks so much!

I love this feature.
I see that it warns, "NOTE: Because some recipients block email tracking, the true "read" count is likely higher than what is shown here."
Do you have any idea, on average, what percentage of recipients block email tracking? Is it high?

Posted by lsmj on November 25, 2009

What does bounced mean? At first I thought it was bad addys but I had 88 bounced emails and
only 26 bad addresses.

Posted by daveturnerband on November 25, 2009

This is great. But there's one feature missing that I really wish we had: the ability to send campaigns based on distance from zip code - like ReverbNation. Sometimes, in long or wide states like California, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, etc., you have to look up cities and towns on maps to determine how close a fan might be to where you're playing. Being able to send campaigns based on zip codes would be a huge timesaver and really negate the need for managing groups. From my perspective it's about selling music (email everyone) or promoting shows (geographically targeted).

An excellent addition! My only question so far, to quote playback:

Do you have any idea, on average, what percentage of recipients block email tracking? Is it high?

Hi folks,

The only way any email can be tracked is by putting in a little
tracking image (this is how all email programs like Reverbnation,
Constant Contact, etc work).

All email programs block images by default (Gmail, AOL,
HotMail, Outlook, etc). If they didn't, spammers would
automatically know you read their mail and you would get
bombarded.

Email programs usually put a link at the top of
each new email saying "display images from this sender". Once
a fan clicks this, they would be tracked, and all future emails
would be as well.

It is hard to estimate the number of people blocking images; I
have found that people are more likely to unblock you if you
send newsletter templates that include images, rather than just
a plain text email. Newsletters without images are clearly
"missing" something, and it makes people view the image.

Also, the longer a member has been with your list, the more
likely it is that they will click that link to see the full email.

Sent two campaigns yesterday and stats says delivered but text next to subject heading says "sending". 24 hours later I think I should have rec'd that
first email. Are new bells & whistles affecting mail delivery? Never had this experience before. It's only 93 email addresses in this group. Why the hold
up?

Any possibility of upping the limit on messages sent at a time, guys? I'm still being forced to
pay a 3rd party service for our mailing list, for basically all the same functionality, just
because I can't afford to have BZ take a week to send all my newsletters each time I write one.
We'd be willing to pay extra! It'd be really nice to be able to do everything in one place.

Pretty please?

This is awesome! This helps me improve the effectiveness of my marketing!!

This is great, as I was thinking about moving my mailing list to get this info. Now I don't have to.

But I was horrified to see that my readership is 16%! Holy crap, that's terrible. Anyone got tips on how to get folks to actually read your newsletters?

I have the same problem. The answer I got was that many providers flag your mailing list emails as spam, so the vast majority of users
aren't getting your mail unless they go hunting through their spam/junk folders. The best thing you can do is to put a note next to your
mailing list sign up to have users please add you as a safe user through their email.

Suck that people who sign up for your mail don't even get a good chance to read it.

Poor Boys Relief: the percentage opening doesn't always mean
they are in the spam folder. It could just mean that they don't
have images loaded in their email program (as mentioned, that
is how we track reads)

I also noticed you are sending from your @yahoo address.
Because we aren't Yahoo, there is a higher chance of the email
being flagged as spam (the receipient server can see that the
email address that is sending the mail isn't on the same server
that owns that address). You'd have a higher delivery rate if you
use an email that comes with your Bandzoogle account (which
also looks more professional)

Posted by sartre on December 15, 2009

Brilliant, just what we need. Love the fact that you can track who is doing what and when!
Thanks for this!

We were sending our emails from a different service because of this. Now that you've changed it, we can move our mailing list into BandZoogle! It'll be so much easier to do it all out of one system.

THANK YOU!
