Bandzoogle 2.0: New design, new style editor, new features, new pricing!

Some big changes this week!

You've probably already noticed the first one: a brand new look for http://www.bandzoogle.com. We've had the previous design for a few years, and thought it was time for a facelift. We also wanted to better showcase all the cool stuff you can do with Bandzoogle.

Speaking of cool stuff, the new custom style editor version 1.0 is live! For those of you who want a completely unique website, you now have the tools to do it, without having to write any code. Feel free to play around -- changes don't affect your live site until you decide to publish them. You'll find the custom style editor in the Design & Options tab by clicking Change Site Style, then Custom Styles in the control panel.

We're amazed at the hundreds of great looking custom sites that members have created since we launched the beta a few weeks ago. Here's a small sample:

band website for
8kount

band
website for
sheena grobb

band
website for thegroundkeepers

band website
for my first robot

band
website for
anthony renzulli

band website for
soulside

band website for
Livin with Jack

I'm proud to say that with our built in site styles, plus the new custom style editor, Bandzoogle gives you more design options than any other band website builder out there!

Not to say that there isn't more work to do… we've been reading all your comments in the beta forum (big thanks to all the beta testers!), and have already started on new features and improvements. Case in point: transparency options are being added now, along with a bunch more stock background designs. New options for the layout of your content (think columns, sidebars), are our next priority.

Another new feature is integration with ArtistData.com. In addition to our built-in posting to Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, ArtistData allows you to post to dozens more. They also have promotional tools that complement your Bandzoogle site and are expanding their features all the time. You'll find options to add ArtistData feeds in the Blog and Events features.

Finally, we have a new pricing plan. The LITE plan ($9.95/month) is great for bands with simpler website needs. Find out more about the plan here.

We hope you like these updates, and are looking forward to seeing more unique and amazing websites that are built with on Bandzoogle!

TheDriveBy: DaveTurnerMusic added the extra column using the
table function in the text editor. You can do this now, it just
takes an extra step. As mentioned it is something we think
should be built-in and is what we are working on now.

Most sites look great with the standard 2 columns though
(including the examples listed in this blog post).

The footer in Corey's site is neat, and was accomplished with
some extra HTML code. Revamping the site wide player is on
our list, but it was never planned to be part of this initial release.

We do plan on releasing many more design updates in the
coming weeks and months, so stay tuned.

My First Robot: added! Nice work on your site!

Hello! Not sure this is the correct place to post this message. I posted it under the Custom
Style Blog section as well. I've been having trouble when I try to create a custom design. I
do it and then I click save and it looks fine in the thumbnail preview. When I click preview
the menu buttons are different than what I saved and some of the colors of the menu buttons
are different and in a different font style. Basically, it's not saving what it's telling me
it's saving. I've tried to do each page separately and click save after I'm done editing
each page. I've tried to edit all pages and then click save. Either way it says it's saved
and the thumbnail preview looks fine, but when I click preview, it looks different than what
I created and saved. When I go back to edit it again I have to redo it all over again and
the same thing keeps happening. Please help me! Also, just wondering, does the new $9.95
plan allow you to build your own custom designs as well? Thank you.

Under the pro plan, Chris, it lists "comprehensive details on your email blasts".
Did you add the ability to see who unsubscribed based on a particular email marketing campaign?

Right now those stats are:
Emails sent, bounced, read, unread, unsubscribed, and opened by day.

The ability to see who bounced, who unsubscribed, who read, who didn't would be pretty comprehensive. Are those features coming soon?

Thanks,
Chris

THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE CHRIS

LOOKIN FORWARD TO IT

THE NEW INTRO PAGE YOU GUYS MADE IS SWEET

DO THIS

Rubix - Currently the stats list the details for emails read and bounced, however, unsubscribe means they don't want to share personal information any more, that is why we remove those addresses completely.

A direct link to your webmail on the home page would be nice like the version before.

Thanks

The custom builder is awesome! It helps to have some photoshop experience, but even without it you can really make a decent site. Because of the custom builder, we are now able to use the same imagery throughout all of our materials... and we still have access to all of bandzoogle's helpful promo tools..

I'm also excited for the Artist Data implementation. I've been meaning to set it up for a long time... my colleagues tell me it saves hours of updating. That's huge. What a start to 2010 for Bandzoogle!

Thanks for giving the website some love.

I too dig the custom builder!

Two things if I may add: 1. When it comes to basic page text when using the style editor if there was a way to go bold, use italics, etc. it would be that much better. 2. If there was some way to colorize our music player from the standard green or grey to match the theme of our page, that would be really awesome also.

But yeah, thanks a million for providing musicians with a site like this! Though I haven’t been a member too long, I have virtually had no trouble thus far and really enjoy my experience. Keep on keeping on!

Zyler: Thanks for the feedback! You can actually change the style of your content font by clicking Change Content Font in the Design & Options tab. For the header, subheader and button font, we will be adding the ability to upload your own fonts in the custom style editor (this is already available for existing templates), this is on our development list.

For the music player, we will be releasing a new version in the coming weeks that will give you control over the colour. We will post in the blog as soon as this is released!

Posted by Zyler on February 11, 2010

Stacey: I know the capability to go bold, use italics, etc. could be done by going to the change content font under the design & options tab when one has chosen one of the templates Bandzoogle offers, but that option does not appear to be available when you are using a site design you created yourself with the style editor. When using a site design made by the style editor it only gives you the option to edit your custom design with the style editor (or change to a new design altogether) and doesn't provide you with the change content font option as with the site designs you all provide.

If I am overlooking something, forgive the extra response. But from all I can gather at the moment, the option doesn't seem to be availble.

Chris where is the table function or the text editor

Bandzoogle admin
Posted by Allison on February 11, 2010

Flagship - In the Text feature it is located in the text editor bar. There is a little icon of a table. Click it and it will ask you how many rows and columns you want. Smile

Hi. I just joined Bandzoogle on Monday and am loving it so far. It's exciting to be able to get a site up and running so quickly.
One question, though- where can I find the link to edit my style sheet? Basically, I'm looking to be able to center everything on my page
more and get some borders happening. I'm on the $14.95/month plan. Do I have access to that capability? If so, where/how do I find my
style sheet. Thanks a bunch. This really is a great tool for indie artists. Joni

Hi Chris and co,

I just wanted to say a huge thanks for setting up the 2.0 and the many new features you;ve released, I hadn't really tweaked my site for a while and now its looking the way I want it to. Bandzoogle is getting better everyday, its awesome!

And although I see a lot of artists (I, for one!) promoting there own music, bandzoogle has done wonders for my tuition business. I'm currently getting loads of people daily asking me for guitar tuition, live work, dep work etc etc. I'm now a full time guitar tutor in the day and a gigger by night. Since I've setup the site I've seen my downloads, merchandise etc increase! I've recommended bandzoogle to quite a few people and they have also found it awesome, keep up the good hard work guys!

Cheers

Jon Hart
