Pay-Per-Download Music Store added!

By tremendously popular request, we've added a Pay-Per-Download music store feature to Bandzoogle! This new feature lets you sell tracks and receive payments via PayPal with NO fees other than the standard PayPal charges. When one of your fans purchases a track on your site they are sent a unique link to your MP3 by email. They then have three days to download the file before their link is de-activated. You can also send free download links to promoters, E-team members, your mom, etc. You'll find this feature in your "Transaction History". Enough details, now how do you get set up? Well, it's integrated right into your existing "music" features. You'll notice a new section called "Pay-Per-Download tracks". Before you can add new tracks you'll have to test your PayPal account settings (we wouldn't want your fans to pay money to an account that doesn't work!). To test your PayPal settings you will make a quick $0.01 payment to your account. Once that payment clears (it should be intantaneous), you're ready to upload tracks! When you upload your tracks you can set the price to whatever you want and can also choose which portion of your track will be used as a preview clip. Once your tracks are uploaded, you add them to the "music" feature's "Tracks on this page" list right along with your regular downloadable tracks. That means that you could, for example, list all of the tracks on an album with two or three songs as free downloads and the rest for sale. By the way, we also gave a makeover to the upload and edit pages in both the "music" and "musicplayer" features. You can now use punctuation in your song titles! That means no more track titles like "Im yours youre mine". Feel free to edit your existing track names to take advantage of this. Enjoy and good sales to everyone!

Been in the Music and Ringtone download Business since Jan 2006 We spend $20 a month for our Download Store from MUSICANE and they keep 30-40%,they have been a great service, but cant compare with the support, service and features that BANDZOOGEL can now offer us. We plan to spend the $20 that we are saving to launch a new website with you guys. Thanks for all that you do to make our Web Real Estate a Castle. Great Job GJ @ Octane Radio Network

Sacred Rain: you can use any PayPal account, including the one you use for Bandzoogle payments now. Hayseed: the confirmation transaction was the only way we can confirm the PayPal account is correctly set up. If we didn't do this and the account was not correctly set up, PayPal would take your purchaser's money but they would not receive a download link. That would be very bad. The test payment should be instant if you use your paypal balance to pay for the test. If you use a credit card or bank account to pay for the test, it can take a while to "clear" (yes, even $0.01 transactions).

so yeah... i wana sell my tracks for 90 Cents a track. but i see pay pall charges a 30 cent fee and a %5 fee for each transaction. so im only makin 55 cents off the tracks... does that really seem fair??
Sacred Rain
Posted by Sacred Rain on Jun 6 2006 8:04 AM
Have to agree with the last post here - if people buy tracks on a per track basis via credit card (the vast bulk of sales will be done this way) if I charge .79p and PayPal charge .20p + 3.4% per transaction I would end up getting close to .50p per track and not .79p. Will we be able to "group" downloads so people can choose to pay for and download a whole album or EP or such? Then a whole album would likely accrue charges of £9.99p minus 3.4% (34p) minus 20p = 0.54p. Instead of the 10x.20p (£2.00p) + 10x3.4% which will be the case for track by track downloads. bzchris.bandzoogle.com
Posted by bzchris.bandzoogle.com on Jun 6 2006 11:22 PM
Dorje, if the previews are stereo, there will be 5 seconds of buffering. We wanted music to instantly play. If the consensus is waiting for buffering is OK, then we can change the system.

I DEFINITELY want stereo. Please. I personally won't even use the download store (which I am very excited about) unless it is stereo. The buffer time is worth it. It just doesn't make sense to me to have it in mono. I will be producing all my music in 5.1 surround soon but I won't be asking you guys for that don't worry. :)

On more suggestion: Could the MP3 store be more like an "add to cart" then check out at the end kind of thing; instead of buying one mp3 at a time?.....So people can say buy 5 random mp3s, then check out and pay for it all at once? I don't think that is how it is set up right now......Is that possible? If some one wanted to buy 20 random MP3s one at a time, that would be a real drag..... Thanks!
